Pocket full of sunshine

If dinosaurs roamed the earth millions of years ago,

Who’s to say mermaids don’t live in oceans far below?

When the sun sinks below the hills we know it’ll rise again,

So why’s it crazy to think legs could be replaced with a fin?

Ask me not of the many things one knows but cannot see,

Ask instead what lights the way toward endless possibilities.

Is it the heart that beats to a drum only it knows how to hear?

Or the voice that whispers comfort when you’re full of fear.

Miracles happen every day, everywhere.

You only have to seek to find the magic in the air.

Today we took the Shrimpresses to their first puppet show at Bob Baker Marionette with Oh Joy! It was basically as if a Mom Blogger’s Instagram came to life. Everyone had their kids dressed in the cutest little outfits, and every where you looked there was a colorful setting staged for selfies.

Then there was Zee Shrimpress, hair tangled, shirt from last night, mismatched shorts we just barely convinced her she needed to wear to “see puppets”, and the biggest, most joyful look on her face. She has a way of forcing us to remember that nothing in the world matters more than family.

As she chased kids around roaring like a dinosaur, with her baby sister looking on in admiration, we couldn’t help but be wrapped into her world.

Her world where you can be a dinosaur looking for your next meal (friends), only to turn into a bird and fly away (because Mama gave ya some introvert genes for good measure), then off on your unicorn as a warrior princess to save your baby sister from attacks (said friends who are excited to have found someone smaller than themselves). And that is all under five minutes.

Her world where mermaids, unicorns, dragons, princesses, “octopuses”, whales, cowboys, and of course dinosaurs, all coexist in harmony.

My magical little Shrimpress, please don’t ever lose that sparkle.

Now is a time for dreamers…

ACircularLife-MalaMagic

I am a believer in our own innate ability to create magic.

A baby’s first word.

Magic.

Falling in love.

Magic.

Giving life to a perfect, tiny human.

Magic baby, Magic.

And especially on nights like tonight, when the moon rises full in all its shining-silver-glory, I’m reminded that we are magic. Recently I fell in love with Amy Poehler’s story about going on Moon Hunts with her boys. She sweetly told of how they get dressed up in pajamas, moon bait (M&Ms) in hand and venture out to catch the stunning view of the full moon where they share their wishes to her gazing glow.

It was beautiful. It was magic. It was the kind of ritual that I can’t wait to craft and share with Zee Shrimpress.

So tonight on this magical, full moon of the Archer, what are you calling to? What is calling you?

Based on this great write-up by Mystic Mama the Sagittarius Moon is for the dreamers and the doers. The magic makers. This moon’s for you.

FULL MOON in Sagittarius is here calling us to see through the fog of illusion to pierce the truth within. There is lots of electric and creative energy stirring but we must meet it with grounded discernment. So let’s find some time to be still and just Be, as we allow the Light of the Full Moon to bring her illumination.

Now I lay me down to sleep…

Before bedtime, one of my favorite things to do is scour the Internet Pinterest for new inspiration.

Beautiful.

Soulful.

Delicious.

Inspiring.

When I wake up…

napsfixeverything

Throwing sparkles and pink streamers around the room, I didn’t know. When I picked up my best friends from LAX, I didn’t know. Dressing up, singing, dancing, poolside bathing. I didn’t know.

Rides along the pier and handstands in the sand. All the while I didn’t know.

But I thought. I dreamt. I hoped.

And after the girls went home and the haze of the weekend’s distractions cleared, we found out.

We were pregnant.

After all the angst and unfounded, crazy fears, we had created a perfect little life. We were going to be meeting our precious little Shrimpress.

24 weeks later, Zee Hubby’s office has moved out to be replaced with a princess’ crib, complete with chandelier and crown overlooking where Zee Shrimpress will dream. We’ve survived 17 weeks of “morning” sickness (a cruel misuse of the word in every sense). We’ve seen her twirling in my tummy and felt her funny little feet kicking. She’s a dancer.

It’s crazy to know that in 4 short months our lives will be forever changed. Our hearts will forever be open, vulnerable to ever tear, giggle, fear of this little person. In the 6 months of knowing she’d be joining us (did YOU know pregnancy is actually 10 months long?…), our world has already been turned upside down. What we once thought important somehow seems silly and irrelevant. New priorities form every day the closer we get to her arrival, the more we realize what we want for her. What we dream for her…

And oh what glorious dreams they are…

Happy girls are the prettiest girls

Happy Girls

Sometimes the secret to life truly seems to be just L.I.V.I.N.G.

Today I was supposed to be at BlogHer in Chicago with a dear friend, but life happens and we had to cancel our plans last minute. So I found myself with a scheduled vacation day and no where to go. Cue perfect excuse for a personal recoup, rejuv, rejive day! Which I’ve decided needs to be a new monthly tradition.

A single day dedicated to pure, selfish, soul feeding, goodness.

Today’s installment came up a little unplanned, but it’s really brilliant in its simplicity. A single day. 24 hours. One day to focus on giving that used and abused creative muscle a day at the spa. Zee hubs and I decided planning future days will be a necessity. Otherwise we might not get a chance to really do all the fun, things we’ve been coveting for our creative souls. But today I will just be happy spending time connecting with the things that make my heart smile.

Things like supporting friends like Linda Kahle. Linda is the pint sized, “prettiest girl” behind Fine Art Imagery. I met her on Twitter once upon a time when I was toying with the idea of becoming a wedding planner. Because she’s an ABSOLUTELY talented little doll, we ended up having her do our reception photography (even though we had not even been planning reception photos!). And I cannot say enough how happy we are we did. She caught the most sentimental picture from our whole wedding celebration, which we cherish.

But she’s not all lace and satin…well at least not all white lace and satin. Linda has been busily building out her portfolio with Boudoir! And I cannot get over her fun video promoting this ultimate celebration of a woman’s beauty.

As Linda puts it perfectly, “to make every woman look and feel as beautiful as she actually is….”

Enjoy! And make sure you contact Linda for your special day…or night!

“No consideration of failure…”

I have a confession.

I am a hard core nerd for everything Hollywood. The Actresses. The Actors. The Directors. The Stories. The Theater. The Fashion. The Popcorn. I kid you not, nerd on all fronts.

So when I found this little collection of gems (Also See: failing to focus on weekend work and getting distracted by the shiny things), let’s just say I lost spent an unhealthy amount of time nerding. all. out.

I just love the beauty in these unguarded moments (okay, I know they were interviews, so not totally unguarded but still…). What I didn’t expect was finding the real gems. The ironic and beautiful, almost embarrassed confessions of these – the brightest of stars – as they make their own confessions.

Confessions like this one from a young Jennifer Lawrence as she admits to a, “really gross, dangerous mentality of no consideration of failure. Just never even considering the thought of failure. If I want something I just go until I get it.”

And what comes from having that kind of mentality…

What could happen if  you had no consideration of failure?…

Zee hubby came up to me the other day and said, “Did you know that otters hold hands to keep from floating away when they sleep?”. And while I did happen to know this AWWW-dorable fun fact, it was the sweetest thing to see his excitement in sharing this new found knowledge.

Even cuter?

He said this as he grabbed my hand…
